All online course developments completed with support from CEI follow the design standards set by Quality Matters. The standards are intended to provide a measure of quality assurance for online courses to serve the eLearning needs of Penn State students. It is common not to pass an initial review, but it is expected that course authors will amend their course and incorporate feedback from reviewers in order to ultimately pass.
Courses that are approved to be developed or revised with support from CEI are reviewed using the Quality Matters rubric either through an internal review conducted by instructional designers in CEI or a Penn State review team made up of faculty and instructional designers across the Penn State system.
