We have been listening to many teaching and AI related podcasts. We suggest two episodes from the Teaching in Higher Education podcast. This podcast is hosted by Bonni Stachowiak, Dean of Teaching and Learning at Vanguard University. From the Teaching in Higher Education podcast website, “The podcast focuses on topics such as excellence in teaching, instructional design, open education, diversity and inclusion, productivity, creativity in teaching, educational technology, and blended learning.”

There were two recent episodes that focused on generative AI and teaching. The first is titled Assessment Reform for the Age of Artificial Intelligence. In this episode,  Bonni Stachowiak and Jason Lodge discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on educational assessment, particularly focusing on the challenges and opportunities it presents for lesson planning. They explore how AI tools like ChatGPT can assist in creating lesson plans but also highlight the importance of maintaining the human element in teaching to effectively adapt and execute these plans in real classroom settings.

The second episode we recommend is titled Teaching Effectively with ChatGPT. Bonni Stachowiak discusses with Dan Levy and Angela Pérez how educators can effectively use ChatGPT to enhance teaching and learning. They emphasize starting with simple tasks like brainstorming and improving course materials, and encourage a playful, conversational approach to using AI tools.
